Joint administrators are overseeing the sale of Plato Racing Limited’s British Touring Car Championship operation after the company is reported to have entered administration.

Marketing material released by Pantera Valuation Services confirms that the team’s assets, intellectual property, commercial relationships and operational infrastructure are being offered for sale.

The business is described as an “attractive opportunity to acquire a high-profile, operational motorsport platform with an established BTCC presence, competitive race cars, experienced engineering personnel, recognised drivers and commercial sponsorship relationships”.

The BTCC’s newest operation recently claimed its first outright victory following a highly successful weekend at Knockhill, when Adam Morgan led team-mate Daniel Rowbottom home for a 1-2 finish.

Both drivers then followed up with second-place finishes in the subsequent two races, leading to both Morgan and Rowbottom consolidating solid top ten positions in the overall drivers’ championship standings.

The sale details report that the team recorded £1,380,170 of overheads to-date, with a turnover of £545,073 and an operating loss of £835,097.

Court records reviewed by TouringCars.Net indicate that a notice relating to the appointment of an administrator for Plato Racing was filed on 11 August 2026, while a subsequent sale memorandum confirms that the company’s assets are being offered for sale by order of the Joint Administrators of Plato Racing Limited.

Whatever the outcome of the sale process, Plato Racing leaves behind a significant achievement in having established a new BTCC operation and taken a pair of self-developed Mercedes-AMG A35s onto the grid in an intensely competitive championship.

The team’s engineers, mechanics, drivers and wider staff succeeded in turning an ambitious idea into an operational race programme in a remarkably short period of time.

Many will be hoping that the expertise, assets and relationships built during that effort can form the foundation for a future chapter under new ownership.
